Special events this year, Black Powder Rifle Raffle & Tomahawk Throw Donation asked for attendees this year: ($5.00 for adults and children above 6 years) Saturday, August 28, 2009 8:50 Reveille / Call to the East Gate 9:00 Opening Ceremonies Welcome from Fort Mims Restoration Association Flag Raising, Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem by BCHS ROTC /Chorus Memorial Service & Placing of the Wreath by the Fort Mims Chapter DAR Gun Salute by all reenactors 9:30 Music by Kracker Dan 11:00 Battle of Burnt Corn (reenactment in wooded area beyond west wall) 12:00 Kracker Dan 1:00 Bagpipe music & demonstration, speakers on military weapons, uniforms, clothing (Redsticks & Settlers) Tomahawk Throwdown near east wall 3:00 Battle of Fort Mims (reenactment) Displays / crafts include: Flintlock Muskets &Pistols, Arrowheads, blacksmithing, Wool spinning, quilting, basket weaving, children’s games, ‘War of 1812’ display, archeological findings from Ft. Mims by University of South Alabama, History of Fort Mims by Baldwin County Archives and History with display of the preliminary conceptual drawing of improvements for Fort Mims BLACK POWDER GUN RAFFLE $5 per ticket / $25 for ten. Get tickets near pavilion. Drawing held Sunday before last battle. Do not have to be present to win. TOMAHAWK THROW Saturday only. Must qualify for ‘throw down’. Contest for Adults only (12 Up) to win a beautiful ‘throwing tomahawk’. |
